we have reservations at the bar harbor inn this week for three nights -
the weather forecast looks a little iffy -
we have been so looking forward to our visit but are now considering cancelling - b/c of the anticipated weather -
is mostly cloudly/possible showers typical for this time of year in the bar harbor region?
should we chance it?
weather this week in bar harbor -
The forecast I get (Weather Underground) says a 50-50 chance late afternoon and evening, and given what I see on the radar, we probably will get some showers.
For the rest of the week, all I see is a 30% chance of showers on Wednesday and again on Friday. This is a fairly typical weekly forecast for this time of year.
I have no idea what you plan to do should you come here. A 30% chance wouldn%26#39;t be enough to keep me from hiking.
If you are interested in the climate history here for this time of year:

then enter either Bar Harbor or the zip (04609) and the range of dates. You will get a text summary plus enough data to gladden the heart of any number-cruncher.

Yes, you should definitely chance it. A 30% chance of showers is the usual forecast for July. And what usually happens is that the sun shines brightly in a clear blue sky all day long and then a stray shower goes through in the night.
And don%26#39;t be put off from doing whatever you want if you should awake to dense fog outside your windows at the Bar Harbor Inn. Even when the village of Bar Harbor is fogged in, the sun can be shining brightly on the other side of the island. Or vice versa. And the fog often clears by noon. Even when it doesn%26#39;t, great photography can be had of fog banks swirling around the islands in Frenchman Bay.
We were there two weeks ago, we had some rain but the park is very nice even in the rain.
The forecasters called for more rain than we got also.
We just returned from the area on Saturday and had a few rainy, chilly days. Don%26#39;t let that stop you. I have awesome pictures of hiking around Jordan Pond in the mist. We also found that it frequently clears up Downtown, even though the park may be wet.
Pack sweats and a light rain jacket. There is alot to explore on the island. We played minigolf one rainy afternoon also
thanks cw voigt and bonnie maev with your encouraging response to visti bar harbor - but we decided just this morning to postpone our visit this week - the forecast showed 60% chance or precepitation on wed and thurs and 40% on friday -
will try again for later this summer or right after labor day - fortunately we purchased cancellation ins ($20) at the bar harbor inn - which we well worth it -
thanks again and i%26#39;ll write back after our visit later on
