HELP: Where in Maine to deep sea fish

We will be in Maine in early August. What part of Maine is the best to deep sea fish out of? We will be in the lower part and all the way up to Acadia. I have heard Acadia is best, but then heard Wells, Ogunquit area is better, and also around Newport, RI. Looking for about a half day adventure for husband and son. THANKS.

There are boats which go from Seal Harbor on Mt Desert Island. Mostly for cod %26amp; haddock. I%26#39;m sure there are others. But, as I found in Florida, there are no guarantees of a catch.

Oh, and don%26#39;t forget the Dramamine.

Our family took a fishing tour out of Southwest Harbor last year. I wish we had that time and money back.

I suspect that if you want ';deep sea fishing'; you need to go to Florida. :)

Thanks for the input. I did read the link you posted Michele, and it doesn%26#39;t sound too promising. My son %26amp; husband had a deep sea fishing trip out of Alabama several years ago and had great success with good sized red snapper. Obviously I know the types of fish would be different out of Maine, but I would like to find an area in New England where they have a good probability of catching fish. Anyone else with advice on where to go??? Thanks a lot.
