Hi, Could you please tell me the best way from the airport in Manchester? We%26#39;re flying into there because it was about one sixth of the cost than to fly into maine. How long will it take and is there anywhere we should stop on the way? Scenic route verses highway? Will there be a lot of traffic? We will arrive about 11:00 am.

We%26#39;ll be here for the week. How is the weather now? Any must sees? Thanks for the info. Looking forward to visiting your beautiful area for the first time. Peggy

The best advice is to print directions from Map Quest for the most direct route from Manchester. If you want to take the scenic coastal route, you would need to exit I95 to route 1 which can be done from most any exit of the southern exits in Maine. If you have the time it is a beautiful drive, however also very busy at this time of year. Keep in mind that it will be nearly 4 hours to reach Bar Harbor via the highway, so your check in time for your place of lodging will need to be considered.

For the most part the weather has been a little unusual this year, but it is safe to say you should be prepared for both wamrer and cooler temperatures. Usually it gets comfortably warm during the daytime hours, cooling off enough for a light jacket or sweater in the evening. Lately it has been cooler than normal with temperatures in the high 60%26#39;s to mid 70%26#39;s during the day.

Acadia National Park is the biggest must see. There are many hiking, biking and walking trails, and it is beautiful. I personally encourage hiking and walking the many carriage roads and trails to see the park in a way you miss from the loop road. We have many attractions and activities such as puffin/whale watches to the Oceanarium, Abbe Museum.... It depends on your specific interests, but there is much to do regardless of what your preferences are. Quickest way to Bar Harbor from Manchester Airport; (done it many times)

From the airport find Rt. 101 S/E (Exeter/Portsmouth)

Rt. 101 all the way to I-95

I-95 North into Maine and all the way to Bangor (exit 186 I think)

I-395 east to terminus at Rt 1A.

Rt 1A to Ellsworth

Rt 3 to Bar Harbor

Plan on taking 5 hours.

I assume you are flying Southwest.
