My internet searches were equally fruitless. I appreciate the effort. Last time I rented a bike just to go around town and down to a couple of lighthouses. Trying to keep options (other than driving) open.

If you stay in town, the buses will help. They have limited routes out of town as well.

Even though it%26#39;s in Ellsworth (near Bangor), Stanley Scooters%26#39; website says they will rent scooters throughout Maine, by the week or month. Prices seem pretty darned high---$250/week for a 50cc Schwinn and $300 for a Vespa, not including tax or insurance. If you want to check them out, their website is www.stanleyscooters.com.
