we%26#39;re heading up with a 9 and 14 year old, and usually that means getting a pool. It certainly looks like the Holiday Inn has a nice one with also a very nice water front location, but at those prices it means we%26#39;ll only get one room. (yes, I%26#39;ve read the so-so reviews) If we stayed in one of the less prominent hotel/motels we%26#39;d probably get two rooms. Is the Holiday Inn%26#39;s water front location worth it? When we go to the Jersey shore, waterfront makes a big difference given that is the primary attraction, but wondering if others have found it as big a factor in BH where there is a greater variety of scenery.
Given the temps and other attractions, have families travelling with kids really used the pools very much?
travelling with kids, BH lodging + a pool + waterfront
There are a number of hotels in Bar Harbor with pools besides the Holiday Inn. The waterfront location is not really the main attraction; certainly not like the waterfront on the Jersey shore. There is so much other stuff to see and do, especially if you are into outdoors stuff..hiking etc. We%26#39;ve stayed at places with pools before and wound up hardly ever using them unless we happened to be in BH during a real heat wave (unusual). I%26#39;d stay at one of the other hotels in Bar Harbor (The Villager has a pool) so that you%26#39;re walking distance to town. The rest of the park will give you lots of stuff to do with kids.

we have just come back from Bar Harbor and stayed
at Holiday Inn. I have to tell you, we really enjoyed it.
location is very good. close to provincial park, and to the city.
great pool and view of the ocean, rooms clean - we stayed
in the main building, with ocean view room.
I can%26#39;t compain. as per prices - we got a great deal
for this hotel at TRAVELZOO.COM.
We%26#39;ve just come back. I agree, a waterfront hotel is not really the big deal I would have thought it was. We spent one night at the Bar Harbor Motel with our two boys (3 and 5) and it was lovely. Super clean, great service, very affordable, a pool and playground on site, and just 10 minutes to the Village Green on the free shuttle. I%26#39;d stay there again.
I am not sure what you are expecting with waterfront in BH. Its not beach-like as in NJ.
Count me as another vote for Bar Harbor Motel. We%26#39;ve stayed there two years running and we really like the place. Its not fancy but its incredibly clean and you get some degree of privacy as rooms are spread out throughout the grounds. The pool was used quite a bit too. Plus they offer a 2BR %26#39;room%26#39; that may suit your needs.
