Going to Bar Harbor, to spend time in Acadia National Park as my husband is a photographer. We will be there 5 nights. Would like to stay in a place with a great view. Have been looking at Bar Harbor Inn because of the convenient location and great views. We will be there Sept 11-15. Suggestions would be helpful as our first trip to Maine.
We are also planning 4 nights in Camden. Looking for accomodations there and thinking about Glenmoor or Beloin%26#39;s. Comments or suggestions about these two places?
Thank You,
Betty

I can%26#39;t imagine anyone being disappointed with the Bar Harbor Inn as a choice. We stayed there for our summer vacations for about 12 years until we bought a place in Winter Harbor.
We liked the Oceanfront Lodge for it%26#39;s private balconies very close to the bay, and the views. Just be sure you don%26#39;t reserve in their Newport building - it has no views.
Enjoy your visit to the Acadia region. Be sure to get over to the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. You can pick up sandwiches at JM Gerrish cafe (go right at the harbor when you arrive in Winter Harbor on Rt. 186), and eat on the granite shore at Schoodic Point. Bring camera and books, too!

I liked the Atlantic Eyrie Lodge. It is on a hill opposite the ferry terminal. Overlooks the harbor. A bit cheaper choice.
Given that you are looking for that combination of convenience, i.e., close to the shops and restaurants, and great views, it%26#39;s hard to beat the Bar Harbor Inn. There are a few places---Wonderview Inn and Bluenose Inn, for example, that are perched higher and offer panoramic views of the harbor area (from the right rooms) but these, like Atlantic Eyrie, are a 20-25 minute walk from the village center.
At the BHI you also would be about three blocks from the village green, where you can catch the Island Explorer shuttle system that serves the park and much of the island. See:
%26lt;http://www.exploreacadia.com%26gt;
for the routes and schedules.
The shuttle system (free) will take you nearly anyplace in the park you want to be---except to the top of Cadillac, which I%26#39;m sure is on your husband%26#39;s ';to do'; list.
Hi,
We just rented a beautiful house on Frenchmans bay through Cyberentals.com. You can rent apts, houses, cottages etc.
We like having the comforts of home, kitchen etc. If you choose you can find places away from the crowds. Enjoy!
Secondling what cwvoigt said, if you%26#39;ll stay at the BHI or somewhere very close in, you can use the Island Explorer (free bus) to get around when he%26#39;s off in the car taking photos. Other inns and B%26amp;Bs might be stops on the bus system, but you%26#39;ll have the most flexibility if you are in walking distance to the Town Green where all buses take off. That saves you having to make connections.
The BHI would certainly be my choice for great view %26amp; convenience.
Ditto to what others have said here re: Bar Harbor Inn. I%26#39;ve stayed there 3 years in a row (I%26#39;ve written a review on this website also). I wouldn%26#39;t even consider staying anywhere else. It is the most centrally located place to stay. You can walk everywhere. It%26#39;s a fantastic property. The staff can%26#39;t be beat-extremely friendly and helpful. They also have one of the best (included) Continental breakfast spreads I%26#39;ve seen at hotels as of late.
As WinterHarborHouse said, the Ocean Front Lodge is the place to stay. If you can get it, there are just 3 rooms on the 3rd floor which offers just a slightly better all around view as they are in the center of the Lodge building. You%26#39;re only about 100 feet from the waters edge at the Lodge.
They have just renovated the 3rd floor rooms last year and were working on the 2nd floor this year I believe. LCD TV%26#39;s, new furnishings etc....
At the entrance to the Inn - each morning a local tour bus for Acadia is waiting (as well as other times throughout the day).
As everyone has said, you can%26#39;t go wrong here.
Enjoy Bar Harbor - you%26#39;re going to love it!
