towns worth staying in other than Bar Harbor

My husband and I are visiting Acadia Park during the third week in July. We%26#39;ll be driving from Boston. Would like to know about other worthwhile towns to stay in besides Bar Harbor that are not too far from the park.

Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor are the other two towns with easy access to Acadia. You won%26#39;t have nearly the wide choice of places to stay in those towns as you will in Bar Harbor. What type of place are you interested in staying: motel, hotel, Bed and Breakfast, cottage, private home?

There are so many choices that it will boggle your mind. If you stay on Mt. Desert, %26#39;Bar Harbor%26#39;s%26#39; island, you will be close to the Park and everything else. Lots of little villages (Bass Harbor, Bernard, Manset, Seawall, Pretty Marsh and others). Chambers of Commerce and acadiamagic will have lots of information. Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor Villages will have everything that Bar Harbor has, just less of it. Enjoy your stay.

southwest harbor is really beautiful

Some of Towns and villages on the island: Bass Harbor, tremont, town hill, Bernard, SouthWest Harbor, Northeast Harbor. I list them this way only because, we never know how some places will list them.

We%26#39;re just back home after a tour of Maine, where we spent five days in Southwest Harbor. And we liked it very very much!

It%26#39;s nice and quiet, but it has shops and some good restaurants (if you go there, try Sips), both at walking distance and within a few minutes by car, and you can easily reach the other parts of the island.

A lot depends of what you%26#39;re looking for: we didn%26#39;t like Bar Harbor (we found it too tourist-oriented), but there are much more choices for ways to spend the evenings.
