Insects in Maine

Hi,

Leaving for Bar Harbor, Maine this Sunday and have heard that there%26#39;s a problem this time of year with insects......just wondered if it%26#39;s in the deep woods or all along the coast?

I don%26#39;t know what you have read or heard. Here on MDI, the black flies are gone and the mosquitoes aren%26#39;t really any problem.

On bright sunny days, any biters will confine themselves mostly to shady areas near trees. At twilight they will venture out. In coastal areas you should be fine.

If you are walking in tall grass or bushey areas, wear long pants and tuck the cuffs into your socks. There are some areas where ticks will be present.

Had no problems with bugs in city, by ocean, or in parks from BH downeast to Lubec:)

had bug spray just in case though - didn%26#39;t use it.
