are there any already built cabins for sale that would be stricktly for summer/fall vacation? curious if there were any 2/3 bedroom cabins for sale in the BH area...couldnt find anything on a real estate page. curious if there were, how much they run?
buying a summer cabin in BH?
Unless you are independently wealthy, plan on selling your first born to pay for one.
buying a summer cabin in BH?
hah, thats funny. i sort of figured it may be pricey, but thought that maybe there were some old little cabins hidden somewhere that werent too expensive. out of curiosity - do you have a ballpark? is there a link that i can go to, cause i cant find much on the real estate page.
I don%26#39;t know about a ballpark in BH. There are a couple of folks who post here reg. who are the experts on the BH area. Hopefully, they will pick up this and answer that question for you. We, of course, have the Portland Sea Dogs minor league (Red Sox) in Portland, but I think you are asking about BH, not Maine in general.
Since this is primarily a travel page, you%26#39;re better off looking at real estate websites. A ballpark figure? For within a half hour of BH? You%26#39;re looking at near-Boston prices, I%26#39;d imagine. I%26#39;m guessing 300,000 plus for a 3-bedroom cabin not on the water. On the water, half a million if you%26#39;re lucky. There really isn%26#39;t any real estate to speak of in BH - all public land or very expensive.
ya, thanks - just curious. wow, guess prices are crazy everywhere! wish it was like when my parents were growing up - middle class had their actualy home and a vacation home...all on on salary....those were the days.
Keep in mind, real estate costs are all relative. MDI is outrageous for us who live and work here, it%26#39;s a stretch to keep family property. But ifyou are used to NJ real estate prices, you won%26#39;t be flabbergasted. There are new townhomes and a timeshare type thing going up. There is also the option of renting a home for the summer. There is a college on the island , don%26#39;t forget, so sometimes you can rent a place for the summer that was a collegiate apartment during the year.
Oh, DUH--you meant a ballpark ';figure'; as to prices.........well, I am a die hard Red Sox fan, so ballpark translate into baseball. Sorry, and boy, do I feel foolishj!!!!!!!!!!!
Ballpark figure for a two or three bedroom, three season, cabin, not on the ocean or a lake, would be about $250,000. There aren%26#39;t that many and they seldom go on the open maket.
Just for fun, you could check Knowles Real Estate. Every so often they send me this really nice brochure of property on the MDI. I have no idea why, because on a teacher%26#39;s salary I couldn%26#39;t afford an outhouse in the BH area, but I enjoy looking at it just in case I every win the lottery.
im just daydreaming. we went to BH from June 30 - July 7th and stayed at Woodland Cottages (about 5 minutes out of the main part of town) and we loved it. The cabins are on the water and we would have our early cup of coffee on the dock looking out at the boats - so peaceful. would love to go there with family every summer-my husband and i had a wonderful time.
