Moose safari

We want to go to the Greenville Moosehead area next week. I was wondering are the Moose sarfari worth it. What about the ones that go on water? What do you suggest?

We will also need a place to stay? Any suggestions for late notice, in the moderate range, possibly on a lake.

Thanks!

Moose safari

We just returned from a terrific stay at the Pleasant Street Inn in Greenville ME. Mary, the new owner, suggested Northwood Outfitters for a Moose Safari (by canoe).

It was reasonably priced and we saw 5 moose (including two by the side of the road on the way to the lake).

The canoe was fun and tranquil. The guide (Mark) was terrific and really made certain we all had an enjoyable time.

I highly recommend both the Pleasant Street Inn (beautiful, comfortable, friendly and great food) as well as Northwood Outfitters (very knowledgeable, friendly staff).

We picked up a copy of North Woods Walks by Christopher Keene (who works at the Northwood Outfitters) and found this indispensable for our hiking.
